NOTICE: GARC Annexation HUB
The GARC Annexation HUB was deployed April 26, 2023 and will be used by local governments to request GIS assistance for their Annexation and Deannexation Reporting. Georgia House Bill 1385 requires all local governments that annex or deannex property after July 1, 2022 to submit a digital GIS file of the parcels to the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) and the Office of Legislative and Congressional Reapportionment. Communities that do not have GIS capabilities can request assistance from its district Regional Commission. Please be aware that, as a result of this new legislation, statute now provides that no annexed area shall be added to the state map until such report has been properly submitted. The Geospatial Information Office is seeking a Business Development Specialist. This position will assist in the Office’s program management, capacity building, and sustainability planning. The position will help identify needs and opportunities to support current Office business and expansion of operations. This position will also assist the Geospatial Information Officer (GIO) and other team members with creating and executing sustainability plans for the programs that support the State’s foundational GIS datasets. These efforts will initially focus on the creation of holistic programs to support development of address and road centerline data, along with various administrative boundary files for the Georgia Emergency Communication Authority (GECA), preparing Georgia to migrate to a Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911) ecosystem. This position will specifically help ensure the sustainability of the programs established to build and maintain NG911 mission-critical geospatial data, including helping drive an assessment of migration-related data creation costs and best practices. In support of the NG911 system, the position will also help draft and manage sustainability plans for the Office’s Remote Sensing Data Programs (LiDAR and Aerial Photography). The Business Development Specialist will plan for future data acquisitions, manage stakeholder relations, and identify opportunities to improve programmatic cost effectiveness. In support of these efforts, the Business Development Specialist will coordinate stakeholders and leverage interagency synergies, while identifying and leveraging innovative funding sources and economies of scale. Additionally, working with the GIO, the Business Development Specialist will help build the Office’s business capacity through grant writing and the establishment of the Georgia Geospatial Advisory Council.
