Geospatial Information Office seeking Business Development Specialist

The Geospatial Information Office is seeking a Business Development Specialist. This position will assist in the Office’s program management, capacity building, and sustainability planning. The position will help identify needs and opportunities to support current Office business and expansion of operations. This position will also assist the Geospatial Information Officer (GIO) and other team members with creating and executing sustainability plans for the programs that support the State’s foundational GIS datasets. These efforts will initially focus on the creation of holistic programs to support development of address and road centerline data, along with various administrative boundary files for the Georgia Emergency Communication Authority (GECA), preparing Georgia to migrate to a Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG911) ecosystem. This position will specifically help ensure the sustainability of the programs established to build and maintain NG911 mission-critical geospatial data, including helping drive an assessment of migration-related data creation costs and best practices. In support of the NG911 system, the position will also help draft and manage sustainability plans for the Office’s Remote Sensing Data Programs (LiDAR and Aerial Photography). The Business Development Specialist will plan for future data acquisitions, manage stakeholder relations, and identify opportunities to improve programmatic cost effectiveness. In support of these efforts, the Business Development Specialist will coordinate stakeholders and leverage interagency synergies, while identifying and leveraging innovative funding sources and economies of scale.  Additionally, working with the GIO, the Business Development Specialist will help build the Office’s business capacity through grant writing and the establishment of the Georgia Geospatial Advisory Council. Geospatial Information Office seeking Geospatial Solution Engineer

The Geospatal Information Office is seeking a Solutions Engineer. This position will lead enterprise application (configurable, custom and COTS) and process development efforts in support of data management and geospatial analysis for the State. The Solutions Engineer will be a natural GIS evangelist who enjoys identifying and promoting GIS-based strategies to improve the way the State approaches its challenges. To further this goal, the Solutions Engineer will create the framework for a common operating data ecosystem that will enable holistic sharing and management of spatial data statewide, facilitating their use in analysis of government function and the best use of taxpayer dollars.  The position will help configure/architect, then lead the development and implementation of, various applications and processes necessary to support the aggregation and dissemination of disparate data sources into statewide datasets. When applicable, this will include near real-time upkeep of data. Efforts will initially focus on the creation of vital statewide spatial datasets to support the State’s migration to a next generation 9-1-1 (NG911) ecosystem. In partnership with the Geospatial Information Officer and other Office team members, the Solutions Engineer will aid in the development of these mission-critical data by leading design and management of the backend infrastructure (cloud/on-prem), an assessment of migration-related data creation costs, the development of business processes, and identification of best practices. To achieve these goals, the Solution Engineer will work closely with our extensive contractor community to apply their expertise locally and expand public-private partnerships by leveraging technology to best utilize limited state resources.  Mission critical NG911 GIS data will benefit numerous government functions at the local and State scale. The Solutions Engineer will develop situational awareness tools to analyze patterns and examine relationships regarding these government functions and the distribution of resources. The position will work closely with our team and partners to identify and leverage the geospatial tools necessary to satisfy multiple business objectives. Stated otherwise, the Solutions Engineer will facilitate data creation for NG911 while also identifying separate use-cases for these data in order to maximize taxpayer dollars. The Solutions Engineer will develop tools to share data appropriately, at scale, and with citizens when appropriate. In doing so, this position will help ensure maximum taxpayer value for a variety of established governmental functions, while simultaneously creating interfaces for all stakeholders, to ensure our citizens can easily navigate and find necessary information through the State’s GeoPortal. The Georgia Geospatial Informatoin Office is seeking a Geospatial Data Program Manager. This position will build programs in support of the development and ongoing maintenance of vital statewide spatial datasets that will support the State’s migration to a next generation 9-1-1 (NG911) ecosystem – this includes development of a comprehensive and fully maintained point based address dataset for every structure in Georgia, our States’ road centerlines with complete routable address ranges, and a collection of political and administrative boundaries. The Program Manager’s primary duty will be to develop and execute strategic plans for the programs around these mission-critical data including initial development, long-term maintenance, and support.  In this position, the Program Manager will work directly with the Geospatial Information Officer (GIO) to develop the programs that will facilitate the creation of data and processes which create value and build efficiencies for the State. Both technical and collaborative in nature, this role will require the Program Manager to foster relationships and effective communication with stakeholders in all levels of government. The creation and long-term sustainability of these data will require working collaboratively with the State’s 650+ local governments, 12 Regional Commissions, and a number of its state agencies.  While managing the Data Programs, this individual will work with other members of the Office to educate and train State stakeholders so they may become well-informed consumers of data. February 26, 2019 – The Southern Georgia Regional Commission (SGRC) announces the launch of an upgraded website www.sgrc.us  to make it easier for member governments and citizens to explore and connect to the SGRC’s programs. SGRC’s website is now mobile friendly, features better navigation and search functionality, and provides a refreshed design of SGRC’s programs that serve the 18-county region. The City of Dublin, located 30 miles southeast of Macon, Georgia is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Finance Director/City Clerk. Dublin has a population of approximately 16,000 and is the county seat of Laurens County.  The Finance Director/City Clerk is a highly responsible administrative and supervisory position for the City of Dublin.  This position ensures proper maintenance of records and documents for the City Council, manages all City funds, and the financial software/computer system.  The Finance Director/City Clerk is responsible for the comprehensive annual financial report, revenue collections and billings for the general fund, sanitation, water, sewer and gas departments, accounts payable, payroll, and the issuance of business and alcohol licenses.  This position also recommends tax millage rate based on tax digest and revenue requirements, handles tax billing and collections. Minimum qualifications for the Finance Director/ City Clerk include: Bachelor’s De­gree in Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field required; Master’s Degree preferred; five years of professional experience in accounting and financial management required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Supervisory experience and work in a local government of similar size and complexity to Dublin is highly desired. The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of understanding of governmental budgeting, finance, and investment/management of public funds; knowledge of governmental accounting and finance best practices that ensure proper fund management and leads to efficient use of financial resources. Knowledge of best practices for maintaining, tracking, safekeeping, and researching official records and documents of the City is also an important requirement.
